A Year at the Annexe Yew Tree Cottage

Looking Back with Gratitude

The year is coming to an end. It seems an ideal time to reflect on another splendid year at the Annexe Yew Tree Cottage. Our quaint spot in the countryside has once more opened its doors to guests from near and far. We are truly appreciative of each visitor who has chosen to spend their time with us.

Over the past year, we have welcomed guests from across the UK. We have also hosted visitors from America, Australia, and many parts of Europe. Some guests came to explore the beauty and history of the area. Others visited family nearby. Some wanted a peaceful place to relax. Whatever their reason for staying, we have truly enjoyed hosting such a diverse and delightful mix of people.

We are especially proud that all our reviews this year have been five-star. Guests consistently describe the Annexe as comfortable, cosy and welcoming – a true home from home. Couples, both young and young at heart, solo travellers and longer-stay guests have appreciated the attention to detail. They have praised the quality of the accommodation. The atmosphere is calm and relaxing.

We take great pride in the fact that all our reviews this year have received a five-star rating. Guests frequently refer to the Annexe as a comfortable, cosy, and inviting space – a genuine home away from home. Young couples have acknowledged the meticulous attention to detail. Those young at heart, solo travellers, and guests staying for an extended period have done so too. The high standard of the accommodation has garnered much acclaim. The ambiance is tranquil and soothing.

This year also brought wonderful recognition, as we were once again awarded a 4-Star Gold rating by Visit England. Receiving this award is very meaningful to us. It reflects our continued commitment to high standards of comfort, cleanliness, and hospitality.

The summer weather was simply amazing, allowing guests to fully enjoy the beautiful garden and the lovely open views. Many commented on how peaceful it felt to sit outside, listen to the birds and unwind after busy days exploring.

Our location continues to be one of the Annexe’s greatest strengths. We are ideally situated for visiting Bath and Bristol, with excellent Park & Ride facilities making evenings out especially easy. The Lansdown Park & Ride, just 4 miles from the Annexe, offers frequent buses into Bath running until 11.30pm, saving guests the trouble of finding city-centre parking. The Bristol Park & Ride also provides late services. This makes it perfect for theatre visits, concerts, and evenings spent enjoying restaurants and nightlife in both cities.

Many guests also chose to venture further afield, exploring Somerset, the North Cotswolds and Wales. Popular day trips included Stonehenge, the historic city of Wells, and coastal visits to Clevedon and Weston-super-Mare. It has been a joy to hear about these adventures and to help guests plan their days.

As we look ahead to 2026, we are excited to welcome new guests and those returning. Whether it’s for a short break of a few days, we are eager to have you. Even if it’s for a longer stay of a month, we are eager to have you. Thank you to everyone who has stayed with us this year and helped make it so special. We look forward to welcoming many more visitors and sharing the comfort, peace, and beauty of the Annexe at Yew Tree Cottage in the year to come.
