September brings a gentle change of pace. The days can still be wonderfully warm, but the light becomes softer, the evenings begin to draw in and the first hints of autumn colour start appearing in the countryside. It’s a lovely time of year to escape to the country and enjoy a few peaceful days away.
At The Annexe Yew Tree Cottage, we are lucky to be surrounded by countryside, with fields and quiet lanes right outside the door. There are plenty of local footpaths to explore, whether you fancy a gentle stroll or a longer walk, and after a day out you can simply sit back and enjoy the view.
Autumn is also a wonderful time to visit Westonbirt Arboretum, when the trees begin their spectacular transformation, or spend time exploring the beautiful grounds of Dyrham Park. And, of course, you don’t always have to go anywhere at all. Our three-acre garden has plenty to discover, from the herbaceous borders and specimen trees to the chickens, aviary and ponds. There is always something happening!
One of our recent guests summed up the Annexe beautifully after booking it for family members visiting them:
