Located in the picturesque village of Wick, The Annexe at Yew Tree Cottage offers that rare combination of peaceful countryside living with remarkably convenient access to vibrant city life. You’ll find yourself just 9 miles from the UNESCO World Heritage city of Bath and 10 miles from the dynamic harbour city of Bristol, giving you the perfect base to explore both without compromising on tranquillity.
The rolling countryside views from your windows provides a constant reminder that you’re in one of England’s most beautiful regions. Our cottage sits in a particularly special location with literary significance too—just down the lane is Blue Lodge, once home to Anna Sewell who penned the beloved classic “Black Beauty.” Many guests are delighted to learn that Tracy Park (now a golf club) on the other side of the village is thought to have inspired Birtwick Park in her famous novel.
One of our guests’ favourite experiences is spotting the colourful hot air balloons that regularly drift across our skies, having launched from nearby Bath or Bristol. There’s something truly magical about enjoying your morning coffee or evening glass of wine whilst watching these gentle giants float across the countryside—a quintessentially English scene that captures the charm of our special location.
