You never get tired of Bath, from wandering around the street admiring the beautiful Georgian building or visiting museums or galleries. It is only 9 miles from the Annexe Yew Tree Cottage and you can park in the Park and Ride in Lansdown without the worry of parking in town.
2. Top 5 places to visit: Bristol
The Annexe Yew Tree Cottage is situated also 9 miles from Bristol. It is more industrial than Bath but is also a charming city. There you can go on a Banksy Trail and discover some hidden treasure as you walk through the town. The cathedral, the docks with the beautiful SS Great Britain, Clifton and its suspension bridge and the zoo are all worth a visit.
3. Top 5 places to visit: Lacock
Lacock is a favourite place of mine. This National Trust village is simply gorgeous. As you walk around the village, you can picture it as it was 200 years ago. The small shops, cafes and pubs are just a delight. Lacock Abbey sits proudly at one end of the village and is worth a visit.
Lacock Abbey was founded in 1232 and was a nunnery until Henry VIII th’s reformation in England. It , then became a private house. It is wonderful to see thow the fine medieval cloisters, sacristy, chapter house and monastic rooms of the Abbey have survived over the years.
3. Top 5 places to visit: Westonbirt
This famous arboretum is an amazing place! There you will enjoy learning about trees as there are around 15,000 trees from all over the globe- However for me the best time to visit is in the Autumn. Who cannot fall in love with the array of colours? The maples are amazing
4- Stonehenge
This world-famous structure is certainly a must visit. The visitors’ centre is very informative. From there you can walk to the stones or if you feel less energetic you can use the shuttle bus.
5- Top 5 places to visit: Cheddar Gorge
Located in the Mendip Hills of Somerset, Cheddar Gorge offers scenic hiking and museums. Man’s oldest man “Cheddar Man” was discovered in one of its caves. The maximum depth of the gorge is 137 m with a near-vertical cliff-face to the south. The road runs along the bottom of the gorge.
