2020 has certainly been hard and challenging for all.
The annoucement
We were looking forward to welcoming old friends and new guests in the Annexe. As soon as Lockdown was announced, we contacted our guests and refunded or postponed their stay. Some stays were cancelled several times as different lockdowns follow and Tier 3 in December. We are now waiting to see when we will be out of Tier 3 and back to welcoming guests.
Lockdown
We were lucky to have beautiful weather for the 3 months of lockdown in the Spring and early Summer . As we have a big garden we could stay safely at home most of the time apart from the trips to supermarket and local shops. We spent our days in the garden growing vegetables and tending to our flower borders. We also spent times refreshing the Annexe. Change of colours in the bedroom and in the lounge.
Post lockdown
We were able to open the Annexe early July. It was wonderful to welcome guests again! It was so lovely to welcome back guests who had stayed with us before and new guests who had chosen a staycation. We followed strict hygiene rules set by Visit Britain and qualified for the “We are good to go” label. We have always been praised for the cleanliness of the Annexe but we certainly went the extra miles and were rewarded by the positive comments that we received. We were very busy and fully booked from July until November when the second lockdown happened!
Now
We have been in lockdown since November and were then put into Tier 3 as South-Gloucestershire relies on Bristol hospitals. It is hard as Bath and North East Somerset is in tier 2 and only 4 miles from us. We are waiting for the next decision but have decided to stay closed until after Christmas and possibly January for peace of mind. The weather is not so good but I have been preparing the garden for Spring. Hopefuly the Spring bulbs will be admired again by our guests! I have also been exploring all the footpaths near the Annexe and will have a lot of ideas to share with future guests.
The Future
Hopefully 2021 will be brighter and we will be able to go back to a “normal” way of life
