Guests always ask us what is the best place to eat and drink near the Annexe Yew Tree Cottage. We all have our preferences and our taste may differ from yours but I will share some of our guests and our own favourite places
If you fancy staying fairly local, you can try the Rose and Crown in the village. It is situated 1 mile from the Annexe, so you can even walk to it! This is a Chef and Brewer Pub, I have heard great feedback from guests who have used it. You can also walk to the White Harte in Bridgeyate (Warmley) also a mile from the Annexe. It was refurbished before the pandemic and we have not eaten or drunk there but there have been mixed reviews from guests
We have two pubs that we enjoy visiting. You will need a car. We highly recommend the Cross House in the pretty village of Doynton four miles from our holiday let. It was completely refurbished before the pandemic and it is a lovely place to pop in for a drink or a meal. It is very popular so you may need to book. The food is very good and the staff very friendly. The other pub is in the village of Hinton. The Bull is a 17th-century stone inn with a rustic interior. Again this is a great place to have a drink or a meal. Their Sunday lunches are popular and you will need to book.
Bath is well known for its historic past and grand architecture. It brings many visitors all through the year but is also the ultimate destination for foodies and people who want to experience a special culinary experience. There is a good range of high-quality restaurants to try inspired by countries all over the world. When you book the Annexe, you have access to a digital guide which will list recommended independent restaurants in Bath and you will be given a reward card which allows you to get discounts or a drink in some of these.
What about a culinary walking tour of Bath? “Savouring Bath” allows you to discover the city’s best independent culinary artisans on a walking tour operating weekly. The tour lasts around 3 hours and includes a meal and food samples. This is also a great way of visiting this beautiful city.
